Summer Piano Lessons - The Perfect Time to Play!

Summer is the time when most venture out of doors. But for those of you who like the indoors just as much and want to learn piano, summer can be a time of great musical discovery!

Summer piano lessons are a great idea that will allow you to test the waters, so to speak.

So... what do you want to learn? Classical, jazz, pop, new age? All are available for you, both online and off. But if you're really looking for convenience and value, you should check out what's available online.

Many people dismiss online piano lessons because they don't get personal time spent with their teacher. But this isn't necessarily true.

In the United States, the average hourly rate for the majority of piano teachers falls somewhere between $30-$60 per hour. And that's the low end.

If you go the 'classical' or 'jazz/pop' route, expect to take lessons for a long, long time. How long? Many years! And what will you have after all these years of lessons and thousands of dollars spent? The ability to play other people's music. That's it. For many people, this is satisfactory. There's nothing wrong with this at all. But for some people, the idea of spending their hard earned money and time learning how to play the 'masters' just doesn't cut it. They want to create their own music!

Edward Weiss is a pianist/composer and webmaster of Quiescence Music's online piano lessons. He has been helping students learn how to play piano in the New Age style for over 14 years and works with students in private, in groups, and now over the internet.
